So did a little looking around and even though it is early we have our clear favorites for the big 12 to make the tournament.
Here we go:
1: Texas, apparently they are thought to have the best pitching core this year.
2: Oklahoma, strong argument for first by some's standards
3: Texas A&M, also a good pitching core and could easily swing into 1st or 2nd
3: Oklahoma State
4: Baylor
5: Texas Tech
So there you have it! The projections are done now we have to see how the games play out.

Jay Birds Upset??
So KU fans still are angry about the VCU Rams beating them and having to take the flack for it. All I hear the KU fans say is "Where was Mizzou and Nebraska?" "Oh yeah they lost first round or did not make it."
I am going to say this for the last time. Yes KU went farther but it is still a lose, lose situation for KU because they were a 1 seed! They lost to an 11 seed. Basketball is their primary sport! They were favored to win the whole tournament. NO ONE SAW MU OR TEXAS A&M GOING ANYWHERE! That is it. It is like MU or Texas losing to Missouri State or Northwest in football. MU and Texas are football schools and everyone knows this.
In the end, suck it up Jay bird fans you'll get your time to give the crap back when football season comes.
Mizzou fans just because VCU wore black and gold does not make it a victory for you too. You lost in the first round to Cinnci, stop talking crap.
Everyone else unless you are a VCU fan and were before the KU game, stop talking about the week and half old game. VCU lost to Butler.

Mizzou Falls
Mizzou has just been a disappointment this year for anyone who wanted to try to be a fan. No big wins really they lost to their rival, KU, did not show up for the big 12 tournament and somehow managed to get a NCAA tournament birth only to get outted in the first round after having a demanding lead. 16-2 I believe it was or something close to it? How cold do you have to get and how bad does your team have to shoot? Do not even mention the rebounding because it was non-existant. Stupid Tigers looks like its gonna be another Jayhawk spring..... but thats pretty normal anymore...

The Calm Before the Storm
So in just about 2 more days the shiza will hit the fan and tv's will be wheeled into lunch rooms every where to watch the magic of march madness happen. I know in my school and a lot of others that during march they would watch the games in class! You have to love this season.
Coming up first you have the games between UAB and Clemson then USC vs. UVC to decide who makes will make up the last two spots in the tournament. I am betting its Clemson and USC that will make up the last seeds but I personnally do not think either team will make it out of the first round.
Hope those brackets are filled out because the deadline is closing in to get them in.
I wonder how much betting goes on in March...

KU Does It Again!
KU played Texas for the Big 12 Championship and yet again Kansas prevailed. It was a pretty good game but Texas just could not finish out in the end. Kansas won 85-73 after being outscored in the 2nd half. Hamilton of Texas posted 21 points and Taylor for Kansas lead the team with 20. "Supposedly" the only reason Kansas lost was because Robinson, I believe, had his mother pass away the night before they played Texas the first time and the team was up till 5 in the morning so they were not at their peak. But who is to say what is myth and fact. Either way KU won when it mattered.

Big 12 Tourney Under Way
So the Big 12 Tournament started yesterday and we already have our casualties. The first games were all pretty close minus Oklahoma who dominated Baylor. Oklahoma St pulled off the win over Nebraska by 1, Colorado only beat ISU by 2, and Missouri only beat Texas Tech by 2!!! The only underdog to really win, however, was Oklahoma who was ranked a 10 seed and Baylor a 7. Technically, Okie St. was an upset as well but not a very big one as they were the 9 vs 8 game.
Well 4 down already and we've got 4 more tonight as we proceed into round 2 of the Big 12 tourney. We have Kansas vs. Okie State, KState vs. Colorado, Oklahoma vs Texas, and wrapping up the night we have Texas A&M vs. Missouri. These all look like they could be very good games and I really cannot say that I favor anyone team over their opponent.
If I had to make a prediction I would say Okie State wins mainly because I think Kansas throws this tourney every year to focus on the NCAA tourney. KState will win due to the way they are playing right now. Texas wins for obvious reasons I feel and A&M outs Missouri because MU has been playing horribly as of late. Those are my predictions and I am sticking to them. Out.

KANSAS OUTS MIZZOU
To no ones surprise, I'm sure, Kansas beat MU. The #2 team in the nation should beat the #22 team in the nation BUT luckily it was a pretty good game.
Missouri actually had the lead over KU early on in the first half and KU got up about 14 points at one moment but if you didnt see the score it got close. Only a 4 point split to decide this one folks. 70-66 the final.
How about the coverage mess up though eh? People in Columbia and Kansas City got cut out of the last 3-4 mins because cbs switched coverage to the Michigan vs. Michigan St game. I guess they have a good rivalry but KU vs MU switched!? Two ranked teams switched?! Technical difficulties my behind. Fail CBS!

KSTATE ON A ROLL!!
KState ended up winning 75-70 upsetting Texas and continuing their run towards the NCAA Tournament. McGruder had 22 and Pullenhad 20 combining for over a third of the teams points. With their win last night they boosted themselves up to probably a 4 seed for the Big 12 tourney and probably securing their seed over Missouri, who is struggling.
With KState win they also moved KU up to number in the Big 12 but Texas is still 2. Texas A&M holds 3rd and will most likely stay their unless they pull off the upset against KU which is not impossible by any means.
KState has Iowa State on Friday and a win there could only help them out going into the Big 12 tourney.

One By One Unless Your Kansas
It seems like all the top teams were losing again this week except Kansas who pulled off a relatively easy win over Oklahoma.
KState kept their tournament hopes alive by upsetting Mizzouri although KState did have the home field advantage.
Texas lost to Colorado which was an even bigger upset AND Texas A&M lost to BAYLOR!!!
If you were a ranked Big 12 team this week you were not looking very favorable unless you sported the red and blue...
Ohio State lost, Pitt lost, and Duke lost just some other notable losses this week.
Good news is we still have some good looking match ups for this week. KState has Texas and Mizzou Nebraska and Kansas plays Texas A&M. Looks like we are lined up for some more upset possibly.

All Top Teams On a Down Turn
Seems like everybody who was ranked in the top half this week went down hard in what should have been easy wins. Nebraska was unranked and they took down Texas and KU lost just the week before and now if you look outside the conference Purdue took down Ohio State and St Johns has beat Duke and Pittsburgh.
With these kinds of upsets going on just before the beginning of the tournament anything could happen and I am looking forward to it!

Another Southerner Falls to the North
Mizzou and Denmon do it again. Regardless of Denmons new beauty mark he still put up 20 points in the MU vs Texas Tech game. Tech is either not very good this year or just cannot show up to play this year. Granted they do not have many good wins they are still a representative of the south and like Iowa State from the north every one has a weak spot, no offense Tech but basketball just does not seem to be your sport.
KU goes down...
Okay my prediction are officially a curse.. I predict KU to win and they lose I predict KState to win and they lose...
I apologize KU but like I have been saying when you shoot under 60% you are not any better than any other team.
KU just had another off night in my book and will probably bounce back and dominate whoever you they play next.

KState: Do or Die Time
KState plays rival KU tonight and there chances of making the tourney this year will be decided by this match up. KU is at the top of their game and is showing no signs up not showing up tonight to play. KState however does seem to show up for rivalry games so we could have a good one on our hands.
My prediction KU takes it by 15, theyre just that good.

Texas is Numero Uno
Not nationally but in the Big 12 Texas has turned it on this season. Since beating KU at KU they havent lost a game. They are number 1 in the Big 12 and look to win the conference title unless KU can take it away or Texas starts throwing some games.
A&M is third in the Big 12 only have losing to Texas in the South and why they have been playing good there is no way that they will come up over Texas in the next couple weeks.

Blue is Better Than Gold
So KU what can be said? Beat Nebs and MU within 3 days. Shooting 60% from all over the court. Oh, wait, not at the 12-15 mark like the free throw line. WHAT!? How can you drop 3 balls like a beast and not make your free throws? Beyond that though they seem unbeatable.
MU kept with them until the foul trouble bit them in the butt and KU just pulled away like usually to break 100 points! Nice job Jayhawks, well played.
Nebraska stuck with them until about the 7 or 5 minute mark in the second half. Good effort Red but once again well played Rock Chalkers.
So Texas is the only rival to KU apparently... yawn... but hey at least KU is fun to watch.

Seeing RED!
So I made it. Drove all the way up to Lincoln for the ku vs nebs game. I honestly don't think the Huskers have a chance with the way KU has been playing lately but we shall see what happens. I'm just hoping for a good showing. Game time though I'll blog back later.

One More Month
Just one more month and its March and everyone knows what that means... MARCH MADNESS!!
Alright well KU seems to be back on track in their true form and fashion and Missouri seems to be doing the exact opposite, sucking. I would not be surprised if after losing the other night to Okie State if Missouri drops out of the top 25 talk about a pathetic month.
In the south A&M actually is on top although Texas U has been pulling off some impressive wins lately. Do you think A&M will be able to hold on to the lead or are they just waiting to get the reigns taken from them? Will KU stay flawless from here on out?

So Wrong...
WOW! I could not have been more wrong in my predictions about this weekend. I mean MU did not even show up to play Texas and KU did not let KState even have a close enough game to have a chance in the fourth like I thought they would. KU came out looking peeved about their loss to Texas and KState was the red headed step child in the way to receive the bruising from pissed off Dad(KU).
MU did not even look like they were playing defense against Texas and so Texas had their way with another team from the North this weekend and made the "strong" North look just pathetic again.
So in tribute to KU making a come back this weekend and looking like the top team again here is a little clip that many fans may recognize. And yes Texas should have the video of the week but I could not find a decent one so KU gets it.

Big Weekend Ahead!
So we got 2 big match ups coming up. The rivalry of Ku vs KState which hopefully should be a good game and the match up of Mizzou vs. Texas, also which I am looking forward to.
My predictions:
KState and Mizzou come out on top. Why? KU still doesnt seem to have their deal sealing game locked up and they leave way too much to chance in the fourth quarter. Kstate is coming off some bad losses recently and I feel will come with fire in the rivalry game to put them back in the runnings, if thats even possible.
Mizzou has a lot to gain from this game with Texas seeing as how Texas was the only team to beat Kansas this year and Mizzou will want to beat them to show they can compete with KU. I dont really see Texas having any threat weapons that Mizzous stalwart defense cant handle but I will say itll be a shoot out and the team that can capitalize on the turn overs will pull this one out.

KU beats CU
So Colorado has been on a roll beating every team in the North and making the underdog look like a good choice to root for. Luckily, KU last night put a little balance back into the universe by beating CU although it was still a 3 point game but a win is a win.
Why is that CU seems to always be the underdog every year even though they pull off big wins like over MU and KState on a regular basis?
Why is that KU cannot put a game away by more than 3-5 points these days?

How I Got Interested in Big XII
I got interested in the Big 12 first as just an avid fan. My family have always talked and ranted about the KU vs MU rivalry whether it was football or basketball. When my love for football flourished my dreams of going to a Div. 1 college for sports became to creep in my mind. I watched all the K-State games and Nebraska games and watch the Texas teams go to bowl games after bowl games. I could not get enough of it and then once March hit every year I started getting really excited once KU started staking their names in the championship rounds. So that is just a little about my interest and how I came to be a die hard Big XII fan. Feel free to share your own tale.

2 Close ones...
Thats right we are talking about the KU vs Nebraska game and the MU vs Texas A&M.
Nebraska put up an amazing performance against KU which I am sure no one expected them to do, did anyone see a 3 point game being a result of the matchup??
Texas A&M upset MU as well the other day in another 3 point win. Is Texas A&M a contendor for the south at all at this point because I am still thinking that Oklahoma is the only threat to the north.
MU has lost their last 3 games and can not seem to pull off a close or late game win, is this just me or are they really fallingm apart in everyone else's eyes?
I believe that if MU still wants to be taken seriosuly in the North they need to take a lesson from KU and learn how to finish a game out and actually win.
Point goes to KU in my book for staying solid even in close ones

Colorado For Real??
So Colorado did it again and upset KState just last night and KU pulled off the win over Iowa State... really no big surprise considering they are pretty non-existance
What happened to KState they were looking good for a solid couple weeks but now they have lost 2 back to back games and Colorado won 2 pretty big games in a row are they a legit team or just getting lucky?
And what about the south? Is Oklahoma just going to run away with it?
@TheGiant no bias but if it will make you happier I will see what I can do about the "mizzou" color...
@bubbamack I agree mizzou is pretty good when they are shooting well and getting turnovers but cant that be said for every team? I mean look at Colorado these last few weeks!

New Blog
Big 12 Sports! I can't get enough of them. Well since football season is officially over I guess we can start this blog off by talking about basketball season! March is right around the corner and who is favoring who to make the tournament? Win the North? Win the South? Win the Big 12? Lets see some arguments on who is the best in the big 12 and who has the easiest schedule going into the tournament.
K-State was favored in the North to win going into last weekend before they lost to Ok St and they have Colorado tonight who just beat Mizzou.
KState over rated, under rated and do you think they'll roll over Colorado?
